DefaultHow much of an advantage is it to have a large stack at NL ring games?

I was recently playing at a NL 50 max buy in table and had worked my stack up to around $250. The player with the second most money only had $60. I had an errand to run so I had to give up my spot at the table. Should I have stayed at the table and continued playing for a bunch more hours? How much of an advantage is it to have the entire table outstacked by so much? What strategies can I apply when I get in this situation again? Thanks for any help!

in a cash game, the advantage is completely psychological and monetary...someone in a game that small probably doesn't have a whole lot of money to throw around, and they know in their mind that whenever they play a pot with you, they could get broke, so they'll play carefully against you and go out of their way to stay out of your pots...therefore, you'll want to be very aggressive and try to push the table around, and if you find it doesn't work, then you can shift back to your normal game and have the added advantage of your opponents having seen you play a much looser game than normal...however, in bigger cash games that advantage is diminished significantly because most players have more money and won't be afraid to get broke against you, and won't be intimidated so easilyin tournaments, you have the same advantages but you can really exploit them better because of the fear of getting busted...you can use the chip advantage you have to gamble more and play more aggressively and try to gain more chips and increase your advantage

Depends on the player,if their tight, play semi-aggressively and Wait for them to get a good and but you to have a better.if they are aggressive , wait for a good hand and take them out.

basically, you can play more hands, even if you have less than favorable cards, just to see if you hit something good. Also, you can bluff people out of pots easier because you can easily take anyone out. you can play more hands all the way through just to see what everyone else is playing and how they play when they have certain cards, that way if they play that way again, you know pretty much exactly what they have and can either bluff them out if you know they dont have much, or if you have them beat, you can bleed them out of money.

When you are the top chip stack at any table you can put maximum pressure on the players who have a shorter chip stack then you do. When i sit down at a no limit game i like to buy-in for as much as i can, that's not to say i want to buy-in for an insane amount, but i want to have a nice stack to start with. So when we get all the money in i will most times have the best hand, so this gives me maximum value on my wins. When you make a big move and you have the other players covered, you are putting them at risk for all there money, and if you lose you still have enough to still play, this is a big advantage and lets you be more aggressive at the table.

A large stack is always an advantage. You can at any time move all in and your opponent is put to a decision for all his chips. Now in such a low stakes game, many people will just get stubborn and call anyway, knowing that they can simply buy back in for another $50. But still generally there is a psychological edge. Clearly if everyone knows that the buy in is $50, then they also know that you have significantly increased your stack since the start. This would lead them to conclude that you must be doing something right. Maybe they will then keep out of your way or give you respect, which is always a useful advantage.Of course sometimes if you get cocky with your large stack you can blow it too. Perhaps some players are looking to you to double them up.At the end of the day you started with $50, you left with $250. If you could do that every session, I'm sure you'd be happy. I don't think leaving the table was a horrible decision at all.

It always depends on your luck and courage, if you lack the courage to continue, then you really should get a replacement for your position.,
